Band Program

Wheeler Heights Public School has an exciting band program for students to join in Years 3 and above. There are four bands and opportunities to perform at school concerts, assemblies and fundraising events, as well as community concerts around the Northern Beaches.

The band program is structured to help students learn about playing and performing together,  starting with the Training Band, then progressing to the Intermediate and Senior Bands. There is also a Jazz Band for students who are keen to try a different musical style.

Each year we hold a Band Jam weekend with rehearsals and small group tutorials over 2 days, before finishing with a concert for family and friends to show just how much we've improved.

For students who are interested in joining the Training Band, there is no need to have any prior musical experience. The school will notify students when the program is about to start and our conductors will work with students to recommend an instrument that suits them, as well as providing a list of local tutors.
